James Woods, DVM, DACVIM
Dr Woods is a native Floridian and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in 2001. He was then selected to perform a one year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Colorado State University, and then invited to stay at CSU for a three year residency program in small animal internal medicine. While at CSU his research focused on feline infectious diseases with the results having been both published and presented at the annual American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine conference. Dr Woods achieved board certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2005. Before returning home to Florida in 2006, Dr Woods practiced for one year at a specialty referral hospital in Southern California.
Dr Woods practices all areas of internal medicine with emphasis on infectious diseases, endocrinology, pulmonary diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, hepatic dysfunction and renal diseases. In the practice of internal medicine, Dr Woods employs a variety of diagnostic tools including ultrasonography and fiber optic procedures including gastrointestinal endoscopy, rhinoscopy and bronchoscopy.
Dr Woods is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, American Association of Feline Practitioners, American Heartworm Society and the University of Florida Alumni Association.
