Soraya V. Juarbe-Diaz, DVM
Dr. Juarbe-Diaz obtained a Bachelor’s of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees at Cornell University in 1983 and 1987, respectively. After two years of large and small animal practice and five years of small animal practice, she returned to her alma mater for a residency in veterinary behavior. Dr. Juarbe-Diaz completed her residency in 1996 and in 1997 became Board Certified in Veterinary Behavior. She was an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine during 1998- 1999 and an assistant professor at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine during 1999-2000, both in Behavior Medicine. She lectures on canine, feline, and equine behav-ior topics at regional, national and international continuing education conferences for veterinary practitioners, veterinary technicians, students, and interested lay people. She has contributed articles to publications like Cat Fancy, CatsUSA, Equus, and Practical Horseman, and was an on-line consultant in the AVMA’s Network of Animal Health’s behavior section (NOAH) for 2 1/2 years. Dr. Juarbe-Díaz is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists and an Applied Animal Behaviorist certified by the Animal Behavior Society. Known to owners as “Dr JD,” she is a monthly expert guest on Talkin’ Pets, a live talk radio pet show. Her past and current interests include Aikido, archery, photography, classical fencing, eventing/horseback riding, coffee and chocolate.
