About Animal Protection Society of Durham
The Animal Protection Society of Durham has been helping animals since 1970. The APS of Durham is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and providing shelter for all animals. Our mission is to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals, promote spay/neuter and encourage the adoption of homeless animals.

We care for nearly 7,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens each year. Every day we provide safe, clean living quarters for hundreds of animals that come into our shelter.

In addition to providing shelter to animals, we also provide low-cost rabies and microchip clinics to the public and educational programs to local schools and civic groups.

We are a non-profit organization that relies on donations from our members and other donors in the community in order to fund these programs.

Hello!
It has been about 2 months since we brought "Chandler" home from your shelter where he was known as the Javanese kitty in Playpen #10.
We named him Chandler (nickname, Chan-Chan) and he was pronounced perfectly healthy by our vet when we brought him home in late July. She agreed with us that he was not a Javanese at all, but an almost purebred-looking lilac-point siamese. He certainly has the classic siamese voice and talks all the time.
As you can see from the attached pictures, he is very much a part of the family now and enjoying his new family of 2 brothers (seal-point siamese) and 1 sister (tortie-point siamese) and a loving mama and papa! He's the almost white kitty you see with his brothers Cecil and Calvin on the table. Now that he's pretty much over his shyness, he romps and plays like no tomorrow and is a great snuggle bunny when he wants some attention. He has a purr to match his voice - loud, deep, and he'll only turn it off when he's ready!
The house felt so empty and sad when we lost our 16-year old siamese Charles to a pulmonary embolism in early July. Not that Chandler can ever replace Charles, but he took our minds off our sadness and lets us remember the good times and wonderful memories of when Charles was a kitten. In some ways, Chandler is very much like Charles was - talkative, highly opinionated, and oh-so-lovable. We hope we have many ,many years with our new "baby."
Kind regards,
Les and Michele
