About Animal Protection Society of Durham
   The Animal Protection Society of Durham has been helping animals since 1970. The APS of Durham is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and providing shelter for all animals. Our mission is to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals, promote spay/neuter and encourage the adoption of homeless animals.

We care for nearly 7,000 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens each year. Every day we provide safe, clean living quarters for hundreds of animals that come into our shelter.

In addition to providing shelter to animals, we also provide low-cost rabies and microchip clinics to the public and educational programs to local schools and civic groups.

We are a non-profit organization that relies on donations from our members and other donors in the community in order to fund these programs.

Hi there - just wanted to share an update on Lola. We adopted her on August 8, and she quickly became the love of our lives. She had been waiting for us at the shelter since April, and our vet said that she's probably had many litters of puppies in her lifetime. Now she spends her days enjoying hour-long walks, playing in the backyard, eating yummy food, tussling with her brother, and cuddling in the bed with Mom and Dad. She was almost instantly housetrained and although we bought a new crate for her, she's rarely spent any time in it as we soon trusted her with free reign of the house while we're gone. She is a fantastic dog and I feel so lucky to have her. Thank you for taking good care of her until we found her. I've attached some pictures of Lola's new happy life. We will see you later on in September when Lola comes back to the shelter for her heartworm treatment.
