CAT SPRAYING INDOORS

Has anyone ever heard of a female spayed adult cat starting to spray out the back (like a male cat does)? She has gotten really BAD about it lately to the point that the other cats are following suit! And my old guy -- he empties his whole bladder! not just a little squirt here & there like she does! And Can anyone tell me what I can do about it? I currently clean any spots immediately with Anti-Icky Poo, and use Feliway diffusers & Feliway spray. Was working, but they're all upset due to the fact we're packing to move! But I'm moving into a 38 ft. trailer! And she has already gotten into there and peed twice! I won't be able to take her with me if I can't find a cure soon!

I have a female cat who pees only on the dog's bed, no matter what the bed is made of. We have changed the type of bed--i.e. foam, pillow, blankets, but it doesn't matter. The solution we have found is to put the bed in a kennel and to have the door of the kennel locked when the dog is not in there so the cat can't get to it. I know this does not solve your problem at all, but I feel your pain. Cat pee is one of the worst smells in the world.

Whether the cat is male or female, when they begin to spray its a dominance, territorial thing. If you have multiple cats in the home, she may be the alpha female or in the case of peeing on the dog's bed its dominance related. The bad news is that once it begins, it becomes a behavioral problem and one of the most difficult to stop. There are drugs you can try sort of like kitty prozac that can help to deter the behavior in addition to using the Feliway diffusors etc. I would speak with your veterinarian about prescription options as your last option prior to putting her up for adoption. Sadly cats who have indoor pee issues do not usually get adopted out. Its a tough problem. I have a male cat who basically lives outside because of this. I used to be a vet tech, so I have somewhat of a back ground in this.
Sincerely
Christine
