Your pooch may have been traumatized by being thrown into the water, or maybe it never even had a bath like ours, before we got her. She never new what water was and of course was fearful of it ,( except for drinking.) We had a huge long haired dachund mix. boy, was she strong. She "drug" you when you tried to walk her. Even my husband was running BEHIND her just to keep from being drug ( and he is a wrestler). What we did to bathe her was: First we had three leashes and tied each one of these leashes to a railing of our porch, with the other ends attached to her collar in some way( had to slip her collar thru two of them.) this way, she could not move in any direction while we bathed her. Be sure you cup the water at first, and it must have been warmed. (we let ours get warm by the hot sun.) Use tearless shampoo so she will not be afraid that the soap will burn her eyes. if you have to use the hose to rinse her off, hold the tip of the hose directly against her fur, just enough so a good flow is going but she won't hear rushing water. When you have done this, cup a clean bucket of warm water over her until she is thoughly "sqweeky clean". Be sure to towel dry her off BEFORE you let her out of the tub (or let her loose from all the leashes.) After a while of this routine, you won't have to use the leashes. But it may take A GOOD WHILE. hope this helps----let us know.
