I have been doing searches on the internet for organizations that provide FREE pet care for low income/disabled and elderly. I've located several organizations, but call, and theyre no longer available to reach. Does anyone know of any organizations out there-especially in Tennessee, that provide care without having to give the pet up for Adoption??

I have a friend that recently had a heart attack, has been hospitalized several times in the last few months, and has lost her job. She has a terrier that has an abcessed tooth and is eating very little, hiding and not wanting attention. Due to her health problems she cant afford to get the dog in for care, and she has been turned down by the Vets in the area as they want the cash upfront. I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have. My friend has called all the local agencies to no avail.

In my area the humane society offer help with food to the elderly and poor. If this does not work try calling the TV stations in your area.

I don't know of any free veterinary care but I do know someone who's dog had a stroke and he didn't have a lot of money. He took the dog to the State University's vet care and they did very low cost vet care for him and he was very happy with the service and care he received. Give that a try. Good luck.

Tootsie's Tab offers free vaccinations for dogs. If you let us know the vet you use, we can look into starting a tab in your area. Right now it's available in MO, but with donations, we'll be able to expand. We focus on rural areas especially.
