Update on Albany Animal Shelter Dogs
Hi there everyone. We managed to pull the original number of dogs and pups scheduled for euthanasia but of course more dogs arrive daily it seems.
I am fostering two of the larger dogs from there; one is going on to rescue this coming week. I have two other fosters that came from a local vet's office as their owners brought one in for euthanasia and the other was an owner release. It seems this is a never ending effort. Why can't people actually think through the committment of having a pet? And then why do they expect the public to clean up their mess? And why is the general public so agains spay and neuter? If we could only get this message out there, we would have less unwanted cats and dogs. Why is this so difficult?
Anyone having any old fencing, dog runs, dog houses, or any other usable supplies please contact me at cg_60@hotmail.com. We need these supplies to house the dogs we are saving from vet offices where owners have relinquished them and from the bad shelters. Please help us.
Also, our vet bills keep growing as we are using our own money for these dogs we save. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Any help is greatly appreciated whether it is monetary or supplies. We can't do this along.
Thanks for letting me vent. Again email me at the above address.
Emotion while posting: hopeful

Over the last several weeks I have been instrumental in saving the lives of about 20 dogs currently housed at the Albany, MO, Animal Shelter. In reality, this is not a shelter but a dog pound. The "shelter" manager informed me prior to Christmas that the city administrator had ordered all the dogs in the "shelter" put down. I promptly contacted the city administrator and found no truth in this rumor. He advised the vet involved not to put down any dogs from this "shelter". Now we are looking to get them out of there, to rescue, legitimate shelters and foster homes.
In addition to getting help with the moving of the animals, our current fosters and licensed shelter (Country Pet Haven) is in need of dog kennels, fencing, cattle panels, etc. If we can get additional kennels and fencing, we can save more dogs as we can care for them until they are either adopted or placed in GOOD foster homes. We need the help of all the caring individuals out there. Please help us. Someone must have dog kennels and old fencing in decent condition that we can use. Remember, when you help an innocent animal to find a forever safe place you get that warm feeling throughout and you can proudly say "I helped them with that! I saved those dogs by giving just the little I gave!!"
If you care as much as I care, then you know what I mean.
Thanks, Rita
