I'm looking for a Golden Retriever puppy in the greater Brockton/Massachusetts area. I'm particularly interested in a Golden with some red. I also seek one that has been cleared for major medical conditions, has her shots up-to-date, and is registered with a decent kennel club.
I've had 2 dogs in 30 years. The first lived till she was 17 the latest till she was 13. I am not a Christmas stocking stuffer. My commitment is long term. I'm not looking to purchase a dog to toss out in the yard and forget about. As far as I am concerned any dog of mine is on equal ground. By that I mean she is part of the family and will not be left out.
My next dog will always be around people. She will be active and subsequently socialized properly. She will sleep at the side of my bed and be overwelmed when I wake up. She will be safeguarded during all extreme weather condition we NE'ers face. I believe the hand of praise is far more valuable than some stale dog cookie. She will have a fenced in back yard to play in and explore. She will receive regular healthcare as well as the day to day care.
I've never had a dog that didn't think the world of me. I need to have that unconditional love in my life and the chance to give the same in return. The only interest I have in show is to let the whole world see the happiest most friendly dog. That is to say I am not interested in breeding or competition dogs. I am interested in a good family dog to sit under a tree with to play some guitar and sing, to go out early in the spring as life returns and tend the garden, to sit around in a warm house in the dead of winter just enjoying each other's company.
I've had a Golden for 13 years and I have found them to have the most wonderful personalities. She was rescued from an abusive atmosphere that included severe neglect. As a result she was as wild as can be imagined. She would have been destroyed had I not taken her on. She was my Helen Keller. She was the moster the whole world hated and only saw ugliness. All I saw was the underlying beauty of a misunderstood being. I worked with her tirelessly. We fought, we bled(or I bled), we cried, we signed...eventually we laughed, smiled and sang. Her first 1 or so of life was a nightmare. Most of the 12 years after were some of the best times of my life. Although I feel I am very qualified to take on an abused dog again I just feel this is not the time. I need to right a wrong and see a Golden develop without abuse and or neglect.
If you have such a puppy I'd like to talk. Although I indicate I am looking to purchase a puppy close to me I wouldn't rule out a long distance purchase. Most of the breeder sites I've found online from my state seem to focus on show dogs. I'm looking for a family type dog.
