People tend to see which other quite a bit every single year, and we’re all familiar with the famous hot coffee scandal that McDonald’s endured several years ago. So you can see that not all of those lawsuits are as serious as they should be, or perhaps they are here is another lawsuit so you can judge for yourself with this one.
A couple, living in a high-rise apartment in Southport, Australia are battling for the right to keep their pet living with them and their apartment. They own the penthouse apartment themselves, but the building is maintained by the building’s corporate body. This is mostly composed of other apartment dwellers in the building, and last year they got together and voted to ban animals in the building.
This meant the couple, Bente and Warren Tutton would no longer be able to keep their ‘ gorgeous‘ Maltese shih tzu in the apartment. At the time of the voting there were 102 apartment units in the building and ten of them had dogs. Currently there are only two apartments with dogs left.
The Tuttons have taken their case to court and are suing to have the bylaw removed and the original law reinstated which allows dogs in the apartment building. Mr. Tutton stated, "This was about our rights . . . and Bernie's…Most people would have given up. They wouldn't have spent $70,000. We felt so strongly it was wrong, it was worth doing."
This change in the bylaws has also affected the Tuttons military to sell their apartment. Last year they were offered $4.5 million for their apartment by some potential buyers however, the buyers pulled out when they learned they couldn’t bring their dog with them in the move. Those same buyers, later moved into a similar apartment for $5 million that allows pets.
