A single week old Cocker Spaniel puppy got the experience of a lifetime while worrying the heck out of a neighborhood in London this week when he got flushed down the toilet. The dog, a week old puppy got into the predicament at the hands of a 4 year old boy, son of the new puppy’s owner.
The boy, meaning no harm felt and urge to wash the puppy in the toilet. Odd choice, but he’s four so…after a nice rinse the little boy went a step too far and flushed the puppy down the toilet. It looked like a long walk off a short pier for the little doggy.
Luckily the boy told his mom what he did and she called local firefighters. The Humane Society showed up too, uh oh! Both groups spent hours on sight trying to figure out what if anything they could do, because there was a possibility that the puppy might still be alive in the sewer or septic system. Finally, someone got the bright idea to call the plumber.
Local plumbing company, Dyno-Rod Plumbing and Drains came to the rescue with some high tech and heavy duty (no pup intended) equipment. Dyno-Rod sent out a whole crew, which used closed circuit television and some tiny cameras to search through the plumbing system to locate the puppy.
There is actually video of this online. If you are interested check out: http://www.dyno.com/dyno_the_dog.htm. That puppy got quite the ride.
Of the rescue, Operations Manager at Dyno by the name of Mark stated, ‘The lady was very concerned…she was worried about the puppy and about the cost of the rescue…All we were concerned about was getting the puppy out alive.”
Mark calmed the owner down and told her that there would be no charge for the rescue, which is probably turning out to be good business for the company anyway.
On finding the puppy, the plumbing crew gently flushed him through the drainage system to the nearest manhole where he was rescued by a fireman. Amazingly the puppy is alright with no harm done. The owner has named him, Dyno, in honor of his rescuers.
